The virtual Spring Webinar program, hosted by the PGRT Board, is an opportunity for PGRT members and non-members to connect and watch a broadcast webinar from the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (NACGP).
Following the webinar broadcast, attendees will have time to discuss and share their thoughts, questions and ideas with each other.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Navigating the emotions of donors while balancing organizational structures and creating win-win-win outcomes is not for the faint of heart. This session will showcase how we collaborate with our donors, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to ensure all parties are on the same page. What steps do you take when a donor presents an opportunity that does not align with what we can implement in our governing documents? How do you explain to a college or department that the planned gift we recorded came in much lower than originally recorded? What happens when you must fall on the sword for someone else’s blunder? How do you take the lead when everyone in their silos is trying to do the same? These are some of the questions that will be answered as we explore real world experiences we have traversed in our 30 years in advancement.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Jenny Carroll oversees the “back office” for UIF’s Office of Gift Planning and Trust Services. For over eight years, she has worked to modernize operations and codify policies and procedures, so planned gifts commitments to benefit the three Universities of the University of Illinois System are properly documented, recorded, and stewarded, and so estate gifts are realized in a timely manner. She also oversees the gift agreement drafting process and advises major gift officers on gift terms to balance donor intent with university priorities. Jenny earned her BA and JD from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and has over 16 years of experience in the non-profit and higher education industries, in programmatic, legal, and operational roles.
Justin Seno has built his fundraising career on the foundation of "The Artful Journey" by Bill Sturtevant. Fast forward 15 years later and he sits in the same office that the late author once led. Before diving into gift planning, Justin worked in a small advancement shop at a private high school learning everything there is to know about the advancement enterprise. After working at that high school, he spent the next five and a half years in major gifts and has spend the past eight years in gift planning, all of which have been in higher education. Justin is a highly energized team member who elevates and accomplishes organizational goals. He feels fortunate to have collaborated with colleagues, counterparts, advisors and donors to raise over $150,000,000 through gifts that align with donors' goals.
