The virtual Spring Webinar Program, hosted by the PGRT Board, is an opportunity for PGRT members and non-members to connect and watch a broadcast webinar from the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (NACGP).
Following the webinar broadcast, attendees will have time to discuss and share their thoughts, questions and ideas with each other.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The next generation of sophisticated wealth owners (entrepreneurs, business owners, and philanthropists) has access to a tremendous amount of non-traditional assets and is now using these assets for charitable gifts. While these gifts can be transformative for the donor and their nonprofit partners, the tax rules governing these assets are complex, with many traps for the unwary.
This session will discuss the structure and income, estate, gift tax consequences and legal issues of charitable gifts of illiquid securities, closely held business interests (C corporations, S corporations, partnerships), retirement plans, artwork, bitcoin, stock options, deferred compensation, private equity, hedge funds, carried interests, life insurance, real estate, intellectual property, and luxury goods like cars, boats and planes. It is imperative that gift planners can identify, evaluate, and understand the ever-changing tax laws, compliance issues and substantiation rules unique to each type of asset.
Attendees will learn from firsthand experiences and real-world examples how high-net-worth individuals work creatively with their advisors and nonprofits to build their legacy outside the bounds of cash and marketable securities, while avoiding costly tax mistakes.
