Troublesome Gifts, Ethics and the IRS - Oh My
Sometimes gifts come with legal, ethical or institutional complications. Come explore troublesome gifts and how to prepare yourself to handle them when they appear. The speaker has personally dealt with some of these cases. Some are ripped from the headlines, and others are taken from Tax Court cases. Many of the case studies will demonstrate how treasury regulations, when not followed, may lead to the donor losing the charitable deduction. We will explore all of these real-life case studies in an interactive manner that includes an open dialogue about the dilemmas presented, possible solutions and the impact on the donor and the charity. The focus will be on outcomes that benefit the donor, family and the charitable organization.
